Amina returns to school after a year out of the classroom
When her family lost its income, Amina left school at the age of 9. The Fortune Kids team found her case during a community visit and offered her a scholarship covering tuition, uniform and supplies. Today Amina is back in 4th grade and dreams of becoming a teacher so that no girl in her neighborhood is left out of school.
The medical check-up campaign reaches 40 families
Working with local health professionals, we completed a new round of pediatric check-ups: weight, vaccinations, eyesight and nutrition. Five children were referred for treatment and followed up until discharge. Families received hands-on training on balanced meals using local products.
The program’s first young graduates open their own business
After completing the vocational training pathway, Joseph and Baraka opened a sewing workshop in central Arusha. With an initial micro-grant and ongoing mentoring, they already employ two more people from the community. Their workshop now serves as a training placement for the program’s new students.
Support the orphans of Arusha
Our first official fundraiser is now live on GoFundMe. Every contribution goes directly to food and school fees for the 15 children in our care today.
